Miller Sports + Entertainment recently launched a college media corps program with Deseret News to increase storytelling and awareness of local Utah sports teams while providing young professionals with valuable experience. Interns from the Salt Lake Bees, Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals FC and Real Monarchs write articles that are featured on the Deseret News website, complete with their own author byline.
All communications interns from the Bees, RSL and the Royals met with Deseret News and MSE employees in the spring of 2026 to officially kick off the program. Aaron Shill, Kent Condon and Krysyan Edler from the Deseret News coached interns on how to write a good story.
Since the media corps kickoff, RSL, Royals and Bees interns have published several articles on the Deseret News website. Below are just a few of the articles they’ve written:
- Match review: Royals make history with first Angel City victory, RSL earns first clean sheet of 2026
- Series recap: Bees split another road series, this time in Vegas
“We’re grateful to Deseret News for partnering with us this year and teaching the next generation of journalists and communications professionals,” said Jenny Teemsma, senior director of communications for Miller Sports + Entertainment. “We’re already impressed by the growth of our interns and their ability to tell the stories of our incredible athletes.”
This partnership will continue throughout the 2026 Bees, RSL and Royals seasons. Read the interns’ articles at deseret.com/sports.
